Plumbers in Canada

Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Plumbers in Canada is a directory of plumbing businesses operated by plumbersincanada.com, a sole proprietorship based in Ontario, Canada. We refer to ourselves as “we” or “us” in this policy.

For privacy questions or requests, contact us at privacy at plumbersincanada.com.

2. What this policy covers

This policy applies to the website at plumbersincanada.com and any subdomain we operate under that name. It does not apply to third-party plumber websites we link to from listings.

3. What we collect when you visit

We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and understand which pages help people find a plumber. Plausible runs entirely without cookies and collects no personal information. The data we see is aggregated and limited to: page URL, country (no city or IP), device class (mobile, tablet, desktop), and the website you came from. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or session-replay tools.

Our hosting provider (Amazon CloudFront) records access logs that include the IP address of each request. These logs are retained for no more than 90 days and are used only to investigate operational or security incidents. We do not match these logs against any personal identifier.

We do not place cookies on your device. We do not use fingerprinting libraries or any other technique designed to identify individual visitors across sessions.

4. What we publish about businesses

The directory lists plumbing businesses across Canada with their public business-contact information — business name, address, telephone number, public website, public licence status where available, and aggregated review ratings from public sources.

Under section 4.01 of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), “business contact information” — including a business's name, position name, business address, business telephone number, business email address, and other public business-purpose information — is not “personal information” when collected, used, or disclosed solely to communicate with the individual in relation to their employment, business, or profession. The directory information we publish about plumbing businesses falls within this exemption.

We aggregate this information from public sources, including provincial regulator registries (such as the Régie du bâtiment du Québec and Skilled Trades Ontario), OpenStreetMap, Yellow Pages, Statistics Canada, Google Places, and municipal business-licence registries.

5. How to request removal of a listing

If you believe a listing should be removed — because you are the named individual or registrant on a public registry, the business has closed, or the listing duplicates another — email us at privacy at plumbersincanada.com.

We will acknowledge a removal request at privacy at plumbersincanada.com within 5 business days and provide a substantive response — a removal, an explanation, or a request for additional verification — within 30 calendar days. We remove a listing when the requester demonstrates ownership of the business, is the named individual on a public regulatory registry, or provides evidence that the business has closed.

6. Your rights

Under PIPEDA Principle 9 (Individual Access) and Principle 4.10 (Challenging Compliance), you have the right to access personal information we hold about you, request corrections, and challenge our compliance with the Act. Because the directory information we publish is exempt under PIPEDA §4.01, this right principally applies to any future personal information we collect — for example, when we add lead-capture forms or claim flows.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy at plumbersincanada.com.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

7. Quebec residents

Quebec residents have additional rights under An Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), including the right to data portability and the right to request de-indexing. We honour these rights on request through the same privacy at plumbersincanada.com contact, regardless of whether the request originates inside or outside Quebec.

If you are not satisfied with our response, Quebec residents may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec at cai.gouv.qc.ca.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We update the “Last updated” date below whenever this policy changes. For material changes, we publish a brief change note in the site's footer for 30 days following the change.

10. Governing law and complaints

This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. We invite you to contact privacy at plumbersincanada.com first with any concerns; unresolved complaints may be escalated to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
